The Relationship 101
In Thai culture (I’m guessing but it definitely is Asian) they believe in 6 senses. Yes six, unlike the conventional 5 that the rest of the western world understands to be in existence.
• Taste
• Touch
• Sight
• Sound
• Smell
• And last but not least The Heart
Honestly I think they may have had their wires a bit crossed because its not the heart that is a sense but the emotional response the heart allows one to experience that could be classified as the 6th sense.
In my opinion its more a matter of 8 senses.
1. Taste
2. Touch
3. Sight
4. Sound
5. Smell
6. Emotion
7. THOUGHT
8. And the last I cant describe because Im not a woman…
Why do I say this you may ask? Simple. Obvious the first 5 are a given we are fortunately blessed with those from birth unless the rare occasion of being a disadvantaged person but beyond that we all come standard with those. The hearts reaction to situations (emotion) is also one of the human senses I think because like your hands you feel something in your heart when your emotions are triggered. Thought should quite self explanatory in the sense that your brain controls all your bodily functions therefore it it the reason why you experience senses. Like I said above the 8th is one I cannot explain as no man, gay or straight, has a woman’s intuition.
But then why do we let these fleshly functions rule and sometimes ruin our lives? I can never just understand why we cant live without the silly entities, maybe life would be simpler to live, don’t you think?
An example is a rue story about a friend I know who had to live through a particular ordeal that tested all the above. (All characters are fiction but this is a true story, also some of the events may be incorrect for the same reasons.)
Liz is a young, beautiful grad year student who was dating Thabo, a mid twenties chap with all the percks. Li has a friend, Fifi, who is Liz’s age and the go to the same school. Liz and Fifi are BFFs and as the rule amongst best friend they will support and listen to each other. So one random day Liz decided to confide in her choma about Thabo and the problems the are going through.
*Already we see some of the senses earlier mentioned are being tested
Fifi does her part as a friens (*bound by emotion) and listens to her friend and offers words of wisdom to console her friend. Fine life goes on.
Sometime goes by and Fifi and Thabo happen to meet and extend their relationship as mutual friends with Liz(*here we see assumption take place – this being the offspring of thought). As the mutual friendship grows obviously the two become more comfortable around each other, allowing for the boundary of BF and BFF to cross. And, yes as you may have predicted, the two get very comfortable. One thing leads to another and the two end up having moe than just Liz as a “mutual connection.”
(* Again that beautiful thing we humans call a mind hard at work.)
Out of guilt Fifi decides she should tell her friend what has happened because (*after tasting, touching, seeing, smelling and hearing Thabo all over her) it would be the morally right thing to do.
So one random Monday at college the two “friends” meet and Fifi spills the beans.
Heart broken and furious Liz cuts her loses with both the parties involved not only because her man and best friend slept together but Fifi is now pregnant with T-Boss’ baby.
The rest is obviously history…
I was typing this on the bus ride home the day I heard about it so I was a bit lazy to point out all the senses being abused.
Why do we always choice to get our fragile hearts and ourselves into such situations? Strangely enough Im speaking like this knowing that I’m in a hopefully long term relationship that will not require me to bring out the old “Playa’s Handbook” later on in future.
In my case I found a female version of myself and even though that may not be 100% the greatest idea because I know me, I think, the whole just somehow feels right and besides it’s about time I gave the serious relationship a chance.
My conclusion to this Blog is this, know your partner and know yourself. It really sucks finding out from the person you think feels the same about you or generally from anyone else that your relationship is going nowhere slowly.
